Went out with my daughters b/f yesterday arvo, we launched at Stoney point to give the new motor a bit of a run and to try for a gummy or 2, we headed over towards Tortoise head and set the gummy baits in 14 metres of water but after an hour we had not had a touch so thought we would sound around for a while to get onto some fish.

Found a good spot in 7 metres and dropped the light gear in the hope of some Yting but had found a school of very hungry silver trevally, in half an hour we had hooked into 30 plus trevally the biggest being a kilo fish, kept 4 trevally for bait then moved on to near the Tankerton jetty at the 5 metre mark where we again dropped the light gear and again got onto non stop action but this time we had hit the right spot as we were pulling in beautifull fat KG Yting one after the other, in about 25 minutes we had bagged 16 yting, the biggest was 48 cm the smallest still a decent 38 cm , between the 2 of us the 16 we caught was enough for a good family feed so we called it a day and got off the water just before dark. We had a great arvo on Westernport bay and will repeat the trip again next weekend.
