Launched at Stoney point yesterday and headed out over to Cat bay armed with a boat load of every bait we could get hold of and every rig we could make up ready for a day of species fishing. Motored from spot to spot dropping baits for gummy, salmon, ellies, yting and anything else we could coax to our lines but after 3 hours had only hooked 3 decent flatties, we then decided to head over to Tortoise head to try our luck but it was even more slower than Cat bay and we did not get a single bite. As it was going to be dark in another hour or so we thought we would go back to Tankerton where we had caught a decent haul of fish a week ago, we set gummy and yting baits and sat back for dissapointment, but within 10 minutes the reel was screaming and on the end of the line was a beautifull 3.5 foot gummy shark, a very welcome site after a not so good days fishing, after boating this gummy we hooked 2 more that were approx 3 foot long but lost them both boatside, one getting caught up with the anchor line. After getting back to the ramp we were told by other fisho,s that they hadnt got a bite all day so we felt pretty damn lucky to have at least come back with a beautifull 3.5 foot gummy and 3 decent flatties. But even if we had not caught a single fish just being out on the water is always great. Hope to repeat this trip again next week if the weather plays fair.
