Lake Lyell (Lithgow) – Catch and Release Fishing Convention Open to A.N.S.A. members and invited guests (including non ANSA Club members – conditions apply).

Rules and Entry Form: Dates: Fishing from Midday Friday 16th May to Midday Sunday 18th May, 2008.

Entry fee: Senior $20, Juniors $10, Family $35. Entry does not include park entry or camping fees.

Closing Date for entries: Friday 9th May, 2008. Fees to be posted to the Secretary, Sea Bees Boating Club P.O. Box 2498 Carlingford 2118. Information is also available on the Sea Bees web site. www.seabeesboating.com

Registration: Convention Base - Covered picnic and BBQ area adjacent to the children’s playground and toilets. Facilities are located just inside the main entry gate to Lake Lyell and close to the boat ramp.

Participants are required to register at the convention base prior to commencing fishing. For safety reasons, details of car, boat and contact phone numbers will be required if not previously provided.

previously Bock tent locations have been reserved – specific locations provided on arrival.

Line classes/rules: Fishing rules as per ANSA’s rule book (but no line classes) and NSW Fisheries regulations.

Eligible species: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Bass all caught within the boundary of Lake Lyell

Fish are to be released in good condition, except Carp (non point scoring). (Recommend circled hooks for bait)

Point scoring: All fish to be witnessed and measured to the nearest millimetre. Score sheets to be signed by angler and witness and handed to Sea Bees recorder each day – i.e. Saturday (late) and Sunday by 12.15pm.

Boat safety: All boat owners must comply with the safety requirements of the N.S.W. Maritime including vessel overloading. The Sea Bees Club and the ANSA - N.S.W. will not be responsible for any accidents during the convention and competitors enter at their own risk. Shore anglers should take care of wet shore if lake level has recently dropped.

Trophies: The following trophies will be awarded:-

  • Longest Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Bass. *Highest individual point scores Ladies, Men and Juniors.

  • Longest Trout caught on a lure, fly and bait (inc. artificial). *ANSA Champion Club (ANSA affiliated clubs only).

Presentation: Immediately after sausage sizzle on Sunday.

  • Participation Award for non ANSA angler
ANSA Champion Club: The method of determining the ANSA champion club will be as follows:-

The five (5) highest point scoring fish of each section shall be awarded points on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. (In the case of a tie, points will not be awarded for the next lowest placing).

The points so awarded in each section shall be totalled and the club having the highest aggregate shall win.

Catering: The Convention does not provide meals for the complete weekend however being the inaugural Sea Bees ANSA Convention a free sausage sizzle/ salad/ bread/ tea /coffee will be provided on Fri. Night (at the convention base) from 5pm-8pm and noon Sunday lunch prior to the Convention Presentation. BYO drinks.

Protests: Any protests must be in writing and handed to the convention committee by 12.15pm on the last day (Sunday 18th May), or within half an hour of the results being declared.

Disputes committee will consist of the Sea Bees President & Recorder or their representative and an ANSA State Representative.

Other issues: Competitors are requested to observe etiquette both on and off the water and in proximity to other boats.

Convention competitors must comply with rules laid down by any Statutory Authority and Lake Lyell management.

At the trophy presentation a draw will take place and a participation prize will be given to the holder of the lucky number.

Blocks of camping sites will be reserved by the Sea Bees and allocated with the aim of keeping club members together. Camp sites fees may be slightly discounted because of numbers so please check on arrival prior to payment.

Sea Bees will provide some firewood so various campfires can be established – use sparingly in existing fire places.

Hot showers available in amenities block on top of hill, close to campsites – requires 2/20cent coins for hot water.

It is recommended you bring your own drinking/cooking water. The small onsite shop/office sells small goods, licences, power bait, some lures, bread, milk and other small goods.

Outboard fuel is available at the Coles servo at the Lake turn off on the Great Western Highway – no fuel available on site.

A boom gate access card is provided on payment of site fees at shop/office on arrival ($10 returnable deposit).
