A quick trip to Lake Eppalock for a chance to catch some quality yellowbelly or perhaps a mythical Eppalock bass I've been hearing about, soon turned into an awesome afternoon when I landed a Whopping 65cm golden perch on a few worms that my mates had dug out of thier back yard earlier that day. What felt like thousands of casts into sunken and standing timber produced nothing. Then a vacant gaze over the waters edge to where my rod was standing and to my excitement my rod was fully loaded!! A solid ten minute fight on 8POUND(YO-ZURI HYBRID) and I was victorious. I had only ever encountered smaller 35-40cm goldens at eppalock and have been fortunate enough to watch a few mates pull out some bigger specimens around 45-50cm while trolling. A few carp were also landed on sunday afternoon on bread by my mates Shaun and Daniel who were targeting the colossal stink fish. Also over the last two months we have also landed a few small redfin on soft plastics fishing from the steep rock banks.
