x-mas holidays left the gold coast to see family in vic, then syd ,firstly arrived in vic to stay in the dandenongs we have not been down for 3 years so when ever we get down that way we try to squeeze in a bit of trout fishing, had 2 freedays and 1 night so went to eildon the area wanted somewhere where had a good chance of some decent size fish for a family trip, they stock the pondage i think a couple of times a year, its a beautiful area down there ,met a local guy with 2 solid trout he got using a mudeye under a bubble float, got rained on that arvo ,cleared up so had a dusk session ,i got 49 cm brown in a tailrace from dam wall on a dough bait under bubble float, next morn wife stayed in bed so i took 3 yo daughter out ,she wound in her first brown trout on a set rod with dough under a bubble went back to cabin around 9 am picked up the sleepy one for another session before we had to leave ,then she spins up 2 rainbows in a row with a 2 kg live fibre rod and 4 lb fireline using a bladed spinner she chose out of the tackle box ,i was happy for her and got some great photos,so if your visiting victoria and you want your family to get some trout action with easy access visit this area, tight lines ,mick.
