Hi - can anyone tell me some good spots to take the kids for a fish round Sydney? (I don't have a boat at the moment). We live in the Blue Mountains. Also is it safe to eat the fish out of the Harbour? Don't mind what we catch so long as it is edible!

G'day Darren. You don't have to go as far as Sydney to catch fish! There are numerous dams(Oberon, Lyell, Thompsons Creek and more), a few rivers(Cox's, Nepean etc) and a miriad of streams and smaller water holes all around and just outside the Blue Mountains which all hold fish of edible quality(the mid and lower reaches of the Nepean a bit dubious though!). Most of them hold trout and if you want a top notch fish to eat you could do much worse than Mr Speckles. As for eating fish out of the harbour- I wouldn't!

In terms of eating fish from the Sydney Harbour. It is my opinion that only some of the fish are affected however there is quite a bit of info on the NSW DPI site at the following link Fishing Sydney Harbour (www.dpi.nsw.gov.au).

Hi buddy, In Sydney There are number of dams,a few rivers and smaller water holes all around.At that water spots you do fishing very easily.I also love fishing very much.I used to visit different fishing places each year.And enjoy fishing very much.
