Pretty self explanatory Forum. I know here in the upper Nepean River we have have considerably lower catch rates then in previous years. I remember going out with jiggler about 4 maybe five years ago now and we had the biggest day I had ever experienced -------120 Bass for the day

Now we get nowhere near that.....

How about in your part of the world. And has it had more adverse affects on some species then others?

It will rain again mate and we will get our 120 or so bass again . In the mean time we will have to put up with catching 30 or 40, he he. We have just come out of an elnino period and lanina is on her way. Some people panic about this stuff and yes our farmers are copping it big time and I feel for them but there is really nothing we can do or should we do about making it rain(I'm sure someone is working on it now). We have had bad floods and bad droughts before, it is just a cycle of the earths weather and although there is such a thing as global warming and holes in the ozone and many other environmental screwups is it only happening in OZ? I watched on the news the other day that somewhere in Europe it was flooding, their in a wet cycle and we are in a dry cycle. We just have to be patient and wait.

Count yourselves very lucky men for in Victoria its a totally different story. Of the 200 or so lake and Res systems in the state we have about 40 left and of those about 11 are no longer fishable and with a shoking rain forcast for the coming summer its coing to get worse, we can only hope that the waterways get through another hot summer. In my area of Geelong i have 1 local water supply left to catch trout from 7 not bad considering that we had the states premier trout fishery 5 years back. i have a pic of a friend standing on the boatramp at Lake Murrdiduke and the water is 300 hundred meters away considering 6 years ago he would have been standing in 4 ft of water.

Bloody Rain!!!! up here on the "Bidgee" things arent that much better, although at least we have some water flowing to fish in. But the Dams that feed this mighty river are extremely low. The forcast weather that were to be our spring rains never eventuated like so many other areas of this great wide land. We can and are doing our little bit to help through being more water wise. It does amase me to hear of so called fisho's fishing these lower than low dams and empoundments with record catches. Talk about "shooting fish in the barrel"!!! Last year we lost one of the best Cod nurseries this country has ever had, "Lake Albert" in Wagga was widely known for the best growth rates for juvenile Cod, I had to tell my 8yr old son that the small fish (in their 1000's) dead around the water's edge were infact the Bigger Cod's food. It didnt take him long to work it out for himself that with no food, that equalled no fish. The local council workers were taking away on average 30 to 50 fish a week in the 650mm to 800mm size. The largest Cod to fall to the drought was a massive 1350mm old fella! Mate, it's enough to make ya shed a tear!! "tight lines,,,"

Cheers & TightLines

Shit! things are bad south and west. I do feel for you fellas but be sure in the fact that it will get better, if not sooner later. It might by the sounds of things be years before you get any noticeable improvement. She's a doozie of a drought thats for sure.

Well the rain certainly did come, for the eastern part of the state anyway. Immediate effect was to destroy all of the places I usually go to to collect green weed for luderick fishing. Was giving it some time to grow back and the rain and wind have hit again. Guess it will be some time before I go fishing for the mighty luderick again.
