Hi fellow fishing lovers I am thinking of starting a diary of fishing of some sort. What i am looking at doing is keeping records of things such as water clarity barometric pressure temp time etc. As I am doing this i would like to study the info i record and hopefully come up with system to use in any conditions. as i record my info i will be adding photos of everything such as lure, bait, technique and so on. if anyone has some tips or formats on how to do this i would be very gratfull thanks for any support lewie p.s i plan to make any results available to people who are interested once i start getting some info recorded

Keeping a diary is a great idea, Ive kept one for many years, I record almost everything such as , time date and where I launch, water and weather conditions including wind speed, target fish, number of and type of fish caught, weight and length, number and type of fish released and reason, type of bait, berley and rigs used, moon phases, sunrise and sunset times, and who went with me, I even record how my boat performed on the trip. I always refere to my diary when Im planning a trip and its been a great help, I also leave room for any comments on how the trip went ect, I hope that my grandson will get a kick out of reading all about my fishing adventures when Im gone, I keep 2 copys of the diary, one hand written in a logg book and the other on my lap top with all my fishing pics. Kaz KaZ <{{{>< Of all the things I have ever lost its my mind I miss the most. |

The two things that your fishing diary definatley needs, and is almost useless without, is consistency and time. Consistency because if you fail to enter a couple of trips (even the dud ones) then you may miss a key aspect of why or why not you are catching fish. Time because the fickle things like the weather change every day and therefore every season etc. Time of day, tide, barometric pressure, time of year, if you added up all of these things to try and come to a resonably consistent diary of facts does take years. When I was younger fitter and more passionate about things I had a diary which I kept for about two years. it had missing entries and information and in the end I found it wasn't fun!! each to their own though. |
