Hi all - I'm a newby and wanna know if anybody remembers the old gibbs croc spoon? They were brass, 31/2 inches long and weiged about? Well, they cast brilliant and polished up work a treat on pelaigics. Anyone seen them around, or a good copy, in any shops or online outlets. Cheers for any info.regional fishing info (www.mackayfishing.com.au)

Although I live in a different part of the country than you Garn71 I have found that pelagics down here will eat a spoon or a slice lure no matter what the brand is. I am pretty sure that they do not make the Gibbs croc anymore but there are plenty of replica's. Most fish that eat fast moving flashy things aren't terribly fussy most times.

Thanks Jiggler - I agree, anything flashy retrieved at speed will work. Over the years I've found polished brass to be very effective, particularly on school and grey mackeral as opposed to chrome. The only drawback is that the brass very quickly tarnishes ands requires continuous polishing to remain effective. Flasha do a good copy but not in brass. You can still get Gibbs Croc if you're willing to pay the Canadian exchange rate and freight into Aust. Puts each lure around 12 - 15 bucks. If you ever see them in a tackle shop it would be great to hear from you. Cheers garn71
